Drawbox Daisy

Several months ago, probably in March or April ’22, I started taking free art lessons from Drawbox. Up until recently, the homework exercises were a bit boring (most of it was drawing boxes, as per the brand). But now the assignments finally include making complete drawings of things — in this case, plants.

This daisy is one of the technical demos. The drawing on the left is the bare-bones construction that I ended up detailing a bit because it was just too good to pass up. I thought about coloring it, but my brush pen would smear if I took the watercolors to it. So I drew it again, with a pencil, and colored it with my new set of gouache paint. I’m very happy with how it turned out! 👌
